Arctic Saga – Exploring Spitsbergen via the Faroes
and Jan Mayen | 14 days
Travel in midnight sunlight to some of the most remote islands on the planet, which only a handful of adventurers have ever explored. Sailing across the North Atlantic, immerse yourself in the region’s rugged beauty and whaling and Viking history, with visits to the awe-inspiring and unspoiled Fair Isle, the Faroe Islands, Jan Mayen and Spitsbergen. Towering fjords, massive glaciers, soaring sea stacks and coastal cliffs teem with thousands of seabirds, such as the Atlantic puffin. There’s an astonishing diversity of wildlife from Svalbard reindeer to dolphins, seals and whales and continuous daylight for part of the voyage optimises your chances to spot them in their natural habitat - day or night! Your voyage starts in Aberdeen and ends in Longyearbyen, with a charter flight to Oslo. We arrange your onward flight home from here.

Fiona’s travel tipsBEST TIME TO GO: May and June for the best weather.
MIDGES: Unfortunately the first midges start to appear in Scotland early June and can be around right up to the end of October! However they don’t like strong sunlight, breezes or white or light clothing. Wearing protective clothing and repellents will help keep them at bay.
