Cross-country skiing in Southern Liverpool Land |
 |
Liverpool Land is one of the most beautiful regions of Greenland. It was named by the whaler and explorer William Scoresby Jr. who wrote "... Nothing that I have seen equals it in bold grandeur and interesting character". Very few people have visited this country in spring when the sea is frozen and the land is covered with snow. Our previous expeditions discovered that this is a superb area for ski-touring due to the excellent weather and wonderful mountain and coastal scenery. The combination of 1,000-1,400m peaks and long valleys leading from glaciers to the sea-ice of deep fjords makes this expedition a fascinating prospect for cross-country skiers who are seeking a true wilderness experience without being over-extended. As a bonus we may see arctic hares, foxes and possibly a polar bear.
